Trillium Software Tutorial to Guide Delegates in Realising Enterprise Data Quality

Trillium Software executive Nigel Turner to conduct tutorial guiding delegates through practical experience towards the successful delivery of strategic enterprise-wide data quality

READING, UK – April 16, 2012Trillium Software®, a business of Harte-Hanks, Inc. (NYSE:HHS) and a leading enabler of Total DataQuality solutions, today announced that Nigel Turner, vice president of information management strategy, has been invited to conduct a full day tutorial at the Data Governance Conference and MDM Summit Europe 2012. The focus of Turner’s session is to help delegates make enterprise data quality a reality in their organisations.

The summit runs from 23rd to 25th April 2012, is organised by IRM UK, and will be held at the Radisson Blu Portman Hotel, London. It presents delegates with the unique opportunity to leverage the powerful combination of data governance and master data management (MDM) to deliver optimal business outcomes through trusted information.

Titled “Making Enterprise Data Quality A Reality,” Turner’s tutorial will draw on his experience of initiating and running BT’s Enterprise Wide Data Quality Improvement programme as well as his consultancy experience undertaken in other large commercial and government organisations. BT’s ten year improvement programme delivered benefits of over £600 million, winning praise from industry gurus and analysts.

A highly interactive workshop, the session will give delegates the opportunity to tackle the problems of a fictional (but realistic) company that is experiencing end-to-end data quality challenges. The tutorial will cover:

  • What differentiates enterprise data governance (DG) from traditional project-based data quality approaches,
  • How to take the first steps in enterprise DG,
  • Making the case for investment,
  • How to deliver the benefits – people, process & technology,
  • Real life case study – how BT reaped the rewards,
  • Practice case study – getting enterprise DG off the ground in a hotel chain,
  • Key lessons learned and maxims for success.

“Organisations are recognising that tacking data quality problems requires more than a series of tactical, one-off improvement projects,” said Turner. “By their nature many data quality problems extend across and often beyond an enterprise, so the only way to tackle them is via an enterprise-wide programme of data governance activities embracing people, process and technology. This requires very different skills and methods from those needed on a traditional data quality project.”

At the summit, Trillium Software will also present a session titled: “Lean Data Governance Machine,” explaining how corporations can improve their data governance by adopting the five principals of Lean.
